Hi there, I'm Austin! 👋

I’m a Master's Student @ UC Berkeley studying Data Science, where I also completed my undergrad in Computer Science and Data Science. I’m passionate about making technology more accessible, which is why I’ve devoted my efforts to building an online data science course, supporting early-stage startups, and working with non-profits to create applications with human-centered design. I'm also interested in exploring the intersection of data science and healthcare applications. There’s so much untapped potential that could transform lives all around the world!

• Working @ Allbirds. Experimenting with the usage of LLMs to generate personalized product review recommendations for customers to increase sales conversion rate while also performing topic labeling with a robust classification pipeline.
• Exploring and applying human-centered design @ Invention Corps. Working with non-profits, startups, and professors to promote social good within the areas of poverty, health, environment, and society.
• Throwing bludgers with Silicon Valley Vipers.
• Reviewing new restaurants and channeling my inner foodie with the Yelp Elite Squad.

• Studied Computer Science and Data Science with a domain emphasis in Cognition @ UC Berkeley .
• Improved the quality of clinical note labeling @ UCSF School of Medicine . Built a robust algorithm using deep learning and natural language processing (NLP) that enhances the diagnosis of over 4000 patients.
• Flew broomsticks @ Cal Quidditch. Learned how to throw quaffles and catch the Snitch.
• Supported early-stage startups and founders @ Iota Ventures. Managed a talent community of over 700 members on Slack, ranging from software engineers to product designers.
• Built a new, online data science course @ Big Data at Berkeley. Led a team of four developers to make data science more accessible to individuals all around the world.
• Interned @ Amazon Web Services. Implemented API redesign to reduce variable initialization code and improve the overall efficiency of product development. In the prior year, built a full-stack development tool to streamline the resolution of customer tickets.
• Constructed NLP model @ Dcipher Analytics to create knowledge graphs on inputted unstructured data such as Twitter Posts and text messages.
• Created deep learning models to predict cancer diagnosis in patients @ NExtNet.
• Innovated the drug discovery process for pharmaceutical companies @ Velare. Published paper that was accepted into JMIR, outlining complete neural network and NLP models that identify new disease targets for existing FDA-approved drugs with expiring patents.
• Sparked new friendships for fresh college grads @ Proximity. Created a full-stack prototype and presented it to a panel of VCs.
• Hosted the largest collegiate hackathon in North America @ Cal Hacks. Managed event logistics and raised over $250k+ in sponsorships.
• Hosted one of the oldest high school hackathons in the nation @ Gunn Hacks. Led a team of 20 directors and raised over $5k in sponsorships. Also built out the infrastructure for the new website.
